ORLANDO (CBSMiami/NSF) - With the key battleground expected to be in the "I-4 corridor," Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and Republican nominee Donald Trump are locked in a tight battle in Florida.

The Mason-Dixon Polling & Research poll, released Friday, shows Clinton leads Trump by a margin of 44 percent to 42 percent, with Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson receiving 6 percent and Green Party candidate Jill Stein getting 2 percent.

The Jacksonville-based firm said the race is "essentially tied" in the closely watched I-4 corridor stretching across the middle of the state.

"With sharp geographic and demographic splits across the state, the outcome --- at least right now --- appears to hinge on turnout," Mason-Dixon said in comments accompanying the results.

The poll of 625 likely voters was conducted from Monday to Wednesday and has a margin of error of 4 percentage points.

The News Service of Florida contributed to this report.
