MSC Cruises, the world's largest privately owned cruise line, is making tremendous strides in the Caribbean with its recent announcement to develop its own private island experience in the Bahamas.
The cruise company has embarked upon a multi-year lease agreement with the Bahamian government to create a marine reserve that will be as innovative and groundbreaking as their fleet of 12 ships.
Aptly called the Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, this impressive stretch of paradise is approximately 65 miles east of Miami.
Opening in December 2017, the amenities on this 95-acre island include a 2,000-seat amphitheater, a family beach area, several restaurants and bars - each with a cool Caribbean vibe, a zip line course, an oasis-style lagoon, a wedding pavilion and more.
Guests booked in the MSC Yacht Club will enjoy a private area on the island specially designed for peace and tranquility including a spa and wellness sanctuary with private bungalows and massage huts.
"This is a natural progression for our company, which is growing very rapidly, and we are thrilled about providing this totally new experience for our guests in the Caribbean," said Executive Chairman of MSC Cruises, Pierfrancesco Vago.
Miami-based MSC Divina is now sailing Caribbean cruises year-round from PortMiami while the revolutionary MSC Seaside will be the first ship to make its way to the new private island in December 2017.
MSC Opera & MSC Armonia, both Cuba-based ships will also have the private island on their itineraries. Find out more by contacting your travel agent, visiting the MSC Cruises website or calling 1-(844) 220-9878.
