MIRAMAR (CBSMiami) -- Miramar's football team is expected to get booted from the playoffs over alleged violations involving impermissible benefits for players on the team.
According to our news partners The Miami Herald, The Patriots are expected to be vacating from the Class 8A playoff bracket over benefits given to players on the team. This means their season would be over.
On Wednesday evening, players were already upset about the decision and used twitter as the outlet asking for support for a planned rally at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday at the Broward County School Board building.
The Patriots are scheduled to play Monarch in a regional quarterfinal on Friday in Deerfield Beach.
Broward County Athletic Association athletic director Rocky Gillis told the paper he had not heard about any decision.
Monarch's coach Calvin Davis told them their team was still preparing for Friday's game as of Wednesday evening.
Miramar has had controversy since coach Mathew Strout resigned in October and claimed the school had allowed ineligible players to participate in this season's games.
