CORAL GABLES (CBSMiami/AP) — The University of Miami athletic department got a big boost from a former Canes graduate this week.

Miami trustee and alumnus Bob Mann has donated $1 million to the school's athletic department, earmarked to support the football, basketball and baseball programs.

The Robert A. Mann Endowed Fund for the Department of Athletics will also help with emergencies as warranted.

It's the third major financial development the Hurricanes have announced in recent weeks. Former running back Ken Hunt donated $1.5 million last month, and the school is entering a 12-year partnership with Adidas in September.

Mann's donation is part of the university-wide $1.6 billion Momentum2 fundraising campaign. Miami's athletic department has raised more than $100 million as part of that effort.

Mann graduated from Miami in 1970. He serves on the school's Board of Trustees' Athletics Advisory Committee and chairs the Visiting Committee of the School of Communication.
