MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Miami police are trying to connect the dots to see if a woman behind a triple shooting was also involved in two armed robberies in the Brickell area.
"I think this shows a lot of hate and this should be stopped," said Miami resident Jennifer Gil. "This shows a lot of hate.
Angie Figueroa added, "Some people don't have consideration for life. It would be nice to get them off the street."
The first Brickell robbery took place on October 5 at approximately 12:15 a.m.
Police said a man was walking near SW 1st Ave. and 12th St. when a gun-wielding thief walked up to him.
The armed robber threatened the victim while a female accomplice took his bag.
Both robbers ran with the bag and jumped into a silver Chrysler and took off.
A week later, on October 12th, the second armed robbery took place at 110 SW 12th St. around 10:30 p.m.
According to detectives, three friends were walking alongside the sidewalk on their way home from work when they were approached by an armed man, who not only demanded their belongings but began to shoot. One of the intended victims was hit multiple times.
Investigators said the robber grabbed what he could from the trio and then fled to a waiting silver Chrysler, driven by an accomplice.
"Not just these two cases are linked, but possibly the suspects are wanted in other open cases that we have. We're not at liberty to discuss which other open cases, but indeed we wholeheartedly believe that these two suspects are wanted and other cases within the city of Miami jurisdiction," said Miami police spokesperson Kenia Fallat.
Detectives are reviewing new surveillance tape of someone they suspect was involved in both robberies and the shooting. They're hoping to catch a break because the video reportedly shows the person's face.
Miami police officer and spokeswoman Yelitza Cedano said the new surveillance tape shows what looks like a silver, Chrysler 200 pulling in to a Marathon gas station on October 5 at SW 8th St. and 12th Ave. with a man and woman inside the vehicle.
"The man pulls up to get gas," she told CBS4's Peter D'Oench. "He tries to get gas and is not able to and tries to use a debit card. He is not able to do that either. So he walks back to the car and leaves."
In a shooting near Clemente Park on October 22nd, an armed female robber opened fire, hitting a 12-year-old, 17-year-old and 20-year-old.
"She kept shooting. She didn't stop shooting until we got away. She fired about nine shots," said Jeydin Martinez. "She could have killed us. If she hadn't lowered her weapon, she would have killed us."
Officer Cedano said, "This was a deliberate, blatant act by this person. People have even injured. We don't want this to escalate. We want people to be able to walk out on the street and remain safe and not feel they have to look over their shoulder."
The sense of security in the Brickell neighborhood has been shaken in the last few weeks.
"I've heard a lot more sirens going off lately and last week I heard loud bangs and I heard multiple cops respond to it," said Fernando Gonzales.
While police say they don't want to create fear, there's a real concern, especially since the robbers don't seem to be scared off by groups of people or very public places.
