MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Travelers planning on catching a flight this weekend should expect stepped up security.

With the 15th anniversary of 9/11 looming, Miami International Airport (MIA) does not want to take any chances.

Airport officials say those going somewhere from MIA  or simply passing through the airport should give themselves more time  especially for pickups, drop-offs and parking.

Travelers taking a domestic flight usually should get to the airport two hours in advance while international travelers need  to be there three hours before. Due to the advisory, travelers should get to the airport even sooner than that.
