Miami International Airport concourse evacuated due to a police investigation

MIAMI - A section of Miami International Airport was temporarily evacuated Saturday due to a police investigation.

Airport officials said Miami-Dade Police began investigating a suspicious item shortly after 5 p.m. 

The investigation impacted Concourse D. The TSA checkpoints and the surrounding areas on the departures and arrivals levels were evacuated and vehicle traffic was diverted to the outermost lanes.

"If you are traveling this evening and will be flying from CC D, please contact your airline for the latest flight info. Some areas in CC D can still be accessed through the checkpoint in CC E," airport officials posted on Twitter


Airport officials said around 7:30 p.m. the police gave the all-clear and normal operations resumed.
