Sanghwan was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Trauma Center with multiple injuries and in critical condition.

His parents said he has a bruised lung broken bones, and bleeding on his brain.

"We can only be hopeful that he will take a turn for the better not the worse," said his mother, Patti Sanghwan.

"He came here to have fun and then this kind of thing happened. It's unreal," added his father, Robbie Sanghwan.

His parents said their son has already been accepted to medical school and is planning to become a surgeon.

He was visiting Miami to attend Ultra Music Festival.

He, his brother and their friends were near a club when the crash happened about 5:30 Sunday morning.

Police said the driver left the scene, but pieces of the car were left behind.

Traffic Homicide Detective George Wilhelm explained, "(The driver) hit him hard enough on the left front of the car that it actually caused the grill to come off and lay on the roadway and it was found near where the victim was."

Investigators are searching for a navy blue 2010 BMW 335I with heavy front end damage.  They say the car could be a two-door or four-door.

"If anyone can help to identify who did this to my son, I think it would really help us as a family," said Patti Sanghwan.

"Please come forward," her husband added, "Whoever it is, please do the right thing."

Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
