The Miami Heat were a part of a 3-team trade Tuesday, sending center and fan-favorite Chris "Birdman" Andersen to the Memphis Grizzlies and picking up backup point guard Brian Roberts from the Charlotte Hornets.
Miami also sent a pair of second future round picks to Memphis – although one is "heavily protected". Andersen reunites with former Heat guard Mario Chalmers in Memphis.
The trade, which was originally reported by Adrian Wojnarowski, was centered around guard Courtney Lee – who was sent from Memphis to Charlotte.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the Miami Heat have not confirmed the deal.
Brian Roberts, a 6-foot-1 guard, is in his fourth NBA season and has career averages of 4.8 points, 1 rebound and 1.3 assists per game. The University of Dayton product averaged career highs in points (9.4) and assists (3.3) during the 2013-14 season with the New Orleans Pelicans.
Roberts, who's appeared in 30 games for the Hornets, would be the third listed point guard on the Heat roster, behind Goran Dragic and Beno Udrih.
