Suspect Involved In Standoff With Miami Gardens Police In Custody
MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Police surrounded a Miami Gardens residence after the subject of an arrest warrant barricaded himself inside the home.
Franklin Bain, 49, was taken into custody Tuesday around 6 PM.
The windows of the suspect's home were broken and the back fence is busted-in.
Bain took off running Tuesday night but police were able to capture him a short distance away.
Miami Gardens police went to pick up the 49-year old in the Leslie Estates 4 off NW 27th Avenue on Monday but couldn't find him at first.
Bain, according to the warrant, was wanted for false imprisonment and an armed sexual battery.
Bain's daughter called police and gave them an address he would be at on Tuesday. When they went to take him into custody in front of a residence at 20409 NW 27th Court, Bain at first reportedly confronted police before darting inside the house.
Bain is no stranger to the law. Previous charges against him include assault with a deadly weapon, child abuse, battery, and burglary.
A neighbor, who captured video of the SWAT standoff, told CBS4's Brian Andrews that he didn't have a good feeling about Bain.
"He gave some of the neighbors like a very crappy feeling, like he made people feel uncomfortable," the neighbor said.
Police have been looking for Bain since the weekend when a homeless woman, who was said to frequent a nearby gas station, accused him of rape and holding her against her will.
