Family displaced by Miami Gardens house fire, pet dies in blaze

MIAMI - Authorities are investigating what may have started a house fire in Miami Gardens on Wednesday afternoon.

Images from Chopper 4 showed as Miami-Dade firefighters battled the blaze at a house located in the 5100 block of NW 194 Lane.

We were told it took eight fire engines to put out the fire.

Neighbors tell us a mother, father and two children live inside the house that went up in flames.

That family is now displaced.

One woman who lives on the street, tells CBS News Miami's Anna McAllister she saw the mother try to run back into the home to save a pet, but unfortunately, Miami-Dade Fire confirmed that the pet had died.

"For you to lose your house right around Mother's Day — around any celebration is sad to see, you know. And the fact that you lose pets. We all have pets, when you have pets — they're considered family. So it's really sad though," said neighbor Michaelle Montes.

Authorities said no injuries had been reported.

Firefighters are working to learn what caused the home to go up in flames.
