Miami-Dade Schools Police Search For Missing Child
MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Miami-Dade Public Schools Police Department is asking for the community's help to locate a 12-year old boy who, police believe, was taken by his mother without authority on Friday.
Police say they have reason to believe Carrie Weingarth (center), 33, took her biological son, Erin Pena (right), without authority and is preparing to leave the state.
"Since the mother does not have the rights to the child, at this time, we need to make sure the well being of the child. We need to make contact with the child and make sure the child's okay and bring him back to the father where he's supposed to be," said Cpt. Ivan Silva of Miami-Dade Schools Police.
According to police, Pena was last seen in the company of Weingarth on February 14th at Gulf Stream Elementary School in Cutler Bay.
They also believe Weingarth is with her boyfriend, Christian Coello (right), and that the two are traveling in a newer model, white Nissan Altima.
Weingarth and Coello both have criminal histories and each have active warrants for their arrest on unrelated cases. Weingarth has been known to frequent the Cutler Bay and Cutler Ridge area. Her last known address is 20410 SW 92nd Place.
"Anybody that sees my son or any of them, please contact the police. Please help me get him back to safety.I miss him like crazy. I don't know what else to do. I can't sleep because of this so if anybody finds him please notify them and hopefully they're safe," said Erin's father, Steven Pena.
Pena has a birth mark on the right side of his stomach.
