Charges against Miami-Dade officer in sexual battery case dropped, state attorney's office says
MIAMI -- The Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office has dismissed charges against a police officer accused of sexually assaulting an ex-girlfriend.
According to a close-out memo, prosecutors in Katherine Fernandez Rundle's office said the alleged victim "essentially recanted all of her previous statements that the sexual encounter was against her will."
Miguel Lomeli, 32, has been booked into the Miami-Dade jail after being arrested shortly before 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night, according to the arrest report.
