MIAMI — A woman and her son were hospitalized after getting hit by a delivery vehicle Thursday morning in Northeast Miami-Dade, and police said the driver didn't stay at the scene.

Miami-Dade Police said the hit-and-run happened at NE 191st St. 7th Ave. in the gated Aventura Isles community when an SUV, driven by a person who appeared to be "wearing some sort of delivery-type vest," struck the mother and child.

Initial reports believed the person was an Amazon driver, but police said they could not make the connection as of Thursday.

The mother and her son were transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition as detectives tried to find the person responsible.

Neighbor and nurse Cassie Kress told CBS News Miami that she ran to help the mother and baby.

"It's unbelievable," she said.

In a video obtained by CBS News Miami, the driver is seen putting the baby and stroller upright and left. She didn't call 911.

Kress said police have told her that they identified the driver and will be able to make an arrest. She has been in touch with the victim's husband who told her his wife has a slight brain bleed but will be okay. The baby is expected to be fine.
