The mayor plans to ask voters for billions of dollars in November. She announced plans to put a bond issue on November ballots.

It asks for $2.5 billion to tackle issues with affordable housing and flooding.

"This historic approach will turn around the follies of the past and build for the future. That is why our bond will be named 305 Future Ready."

Levine Cava says the county economy is strong with an unemployment rate almost half the state average.

"The state of the county is strong. We got here today because we were brave in the face of adversity, we were bold in the face of uncertainty, and we were courageous in laying the foundation for the future," said Levine Cava after highlighting accomplishments from her administration.

She also mentioned some of the leading plans for 2024 which include the continuation of the SMART Program to build five transit corridors; historic investments in infrastructure and maintenance to transform the Miami International Airport into a future-ready destination; and starting to build a waste sustainability campus that will change the way our County manages solid waste.

The mayor highlighted the accomplishments of her first three years in office, outlined a vision for equitable economic growth, discussed key public safety progress, and shared plans for continued investments in 2024.

"We have laid the foundation and we must continue to build – so our kids and grandkids can rely on transit to get them where they need to go, enjoy an environment just as beautiful as it is protected, grow up in safe communities, and get good jobs in the new workforce."

During an interview with CBS News Miami Wednesday morning, Levine Cava spoke about affordable housing in the county and her plans to address it.
