Miami-Dade County Public Schools Asking Parents For Feedback On K12 Learning Platform
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Miami-Dade County Public Schools is asking parents for their feedback on the K12 learning platform.
That's the platform which encountered major technical issue after the Miami-Dade County Public Schools data center was hit by cyberattacks during the first week of school.
Sixth through 12th grades have stopped using the program for now. But Pre-K through fifth grade students are still using it.
The district wants parents to fill out a survey on the parent portal.
Teachers are also being asked to weigh in.
MDCPS said it's assessing all the problems along with the software vendor.
A statement from a K12 spokesperson reads:
"M-DCPS was the target of the DDoS cyberattack, not K12. K12 was not the cause of the cyberattack and was not responsible for the M-DCPS network security. The K12 network was not directly impacted and personal data was not compromised. However, as the curriculum and platform provider to M-DCPS, the network disruption and outages did impact K12's delivery of service and our ability to efficiently solution with our district partner."
