JUPITER (CBSMiami) – The Miami Marlins and Miami Hurricanes played their annual exhibition on Tuesday.
The Marlins came out on top, defeating the Hurricanes 5-1 at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, Florida.
All-Stars Dee Gordon, Giancarlo Standon and Ichiro Suzuki, as well as former Gold Glove winner Christian Yelich, were all in the Marlins lineup.
Hurricanes redshirt freshman Keven Pimentel fared well against the big leaguers, tossing four solid innings.
"At the beginning of the game, you're thinking, 'wow we're playing all these great players,'" said Pimentel. "But once you're on the mound, you don't really think about it. Honestly, looking back now, I can't describe the feeling. It was an honor."
The Hurricanes took a 1-0 lead on a first inning sacrifice fly from junior Jacob Heyward.
The Marlins responded quickly, tying the game in the bottom of the first on an RBI single from first baseman Justin Bour.
After throwing two scoreless innings after that, Pimentel gave up two runs in the fourth inning.
Marlins infielder Robert Andino cracked a two-run double to left center to give the pros a 3-1 lead.
The Marlins added a run in the sixth and another in the eighth.
