Man who reported dad's death from fall, now charged with murder

Man accused of killing his father

MIAMI - A Northwest Miami-Dade man is facing a murder charge following the death of his father.

Police said 53-year-old David Buer called 911 and told them his father, Paul Buer, had died after sustaining injuries from a fall.

According to the arrest report, police received a call about an unresponsive man at a home on Northwest 6th Lane in Fontainebleau on Saturday.

The report states that when officers arrived, David led them to a bedroom where his 81-year-old father, Paul, was dead on a bed.

David told investigators that his dad fell recently at their home where only the two of them lived.

Police noticed cuts and bruises on the victim, but when detectives arrived, they found blood spatter on the blinds near the bed, and several paper towels drenched in blood.

The doctor who conducted the autopsy determined Paul died from strangulation and violence and police arrested his son, David, for the crime.

David has a lengthy criminal history including petty theft and 10 years ago, he was charged with elderly abuse against his father.

David is charged with first-degree murder and aggravated abuse of an elderly victim and is being held without bond.
