Man Wanted For Murder In Argentina Arrested On Miami Beach

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested a man on Miami Beach who is wanted for an alleged murder in Argentina.

Gabriel Hernan Garcia Rodriguez, 36, was indicted in Argentina Nov. 6, 1999, for his alleged role in a homicide in Buenos Aires.

In 2013, Enforcement and Removal Operations officers assigned to the Criminal Alien Program after a Miami-Dade County arrest on numerous criminal charges.

Garcia Rodriguez was convicted of battery last week and sentenced to time served.

Officials said that due to Miami Dade's policy of not honoring ICE detainers, Garcia Rodriguez was released back into the community despite his conviction for a violent felony and his alleged involvement in a murder.

However, the case was given a priority referral to the Fugitive Operations team.

Garcia Rodriguez was arrested without incident one week after his release.

He will remain in ERO custody pending his removal to Argentina, where he will be turned over to authorities there to face murder charges.
