Car shot up on US1 in SW Dade, man rushed to hospital

Driver shot overnight on US1 in SW Miami-Dade

MIAMI - A man was rushed to the hospital after he was shot while driving on US1 early Thursday morning in southwest Miami-Dade.

It happened around 12:30 a.m. near the intersection of SW 232nd Street.

When police arrived they found the man in the car, several bullet holes were in the windshield and the back windows had shattered.

A man who heard the gunshots said it sounded so close he ducked for cover.

"I heard like five gunshots and it's just terrible. The screeching, banging of metal against metal, and the next thing you know I heard a helicopter coming. It was a car full of bullet holes, it was just terrible," he said.

The man was taken to an area hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
