CLERMONT (CBSMiami/AP) — Sheriff's deputies were forced to shoot a man who reportedly shot at them during a domestic disturbance call.
It happened early Sunday in Clermont, which is just west of Orlando.
Lake County Sheriff's Sgt. Fred Jones said Michael Carroll, 42, fired multiple rifle shots at the deputies. The deputies returned fire, wounding Carroll.
Officials say Carroll was in stable condition at a hospital. It's unclear how many times he was shot or where.
Jones says the incident started when authorities got a call from a woman who said she was punched in the eye during a fight between her son and husband.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the shooting.
