Man struck and killed by USPS truck in Miami, prompting police investigation

Man dead after getting hit by car in Miami street

MIAMI — A man was killed after getting hit by a U.S. Postal Service truck in southwest Miami early Friday morning.

Shortly after 4:35 a.m., Miami Police were called out to the intersection of Southwest 27th Avenue and 26th Street in the neighborhood of Silver Bluff Estates about a man struck by a USPS truck.

Miami Fire Rescue responded to the scene, where they pronounced the man dead, police told CBS News Miami. Police also said the USPS driver remained on the scene.

A USPS spokesperson told CBS News Miami that the agency offered condolences to the man's family as Miami Police investigated the circumstances leading up to the crash.

"The U.S. Postal Service and its employees are deeply saddened by the loss of a member of our South Florida community," the spokesperson said.
