FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - A man suspected of an armed sexual assault in Ft. Lauderdale has been denied bond.

Christopher Mackey, 35, made his first court appearance Wednesday on charges of kidnapping and sexual battery with a weapon.

On Monday, August 3rd, Mackey approached a woman in the 600 block of Northwest 3rd Avenue and then forced her into an abandoned building at knife point, according to police. He then allegedly sexually battered her.

The woman was able to give police description of her assailant.  A sketch was made of him and publicized by Crime Stoppers. On August 9th, police received information that the person in the sketch may be Mackey.

A day later, they took him into custody at 1515 East Sunrise Boulevard on a Violation of Probation warrant originating from a previous Grand Theft charge.

While Mackey was locked up, police received word from the Broward Sheriff's Office Crime Lab that his DNA was found on items they obtained from the woman on the night of the attack. The woman also positively identified Mackey as being the person who sexually battered her, according to police.
