HOMESTEAD (CBSMiami) -- A 41-year-old man is in police custody following a brash robbery at a department store in Homestead.

Humberto Herrera was arrested Thursday, two days after police said he walked into the Kohl's store at 2455 N.E. 10th Court armed with a gun and demanded jewelry from an employee.

It happened at 7:35 p.m. while the store was filled with customers.

Officers said Herrera casually walked around the store and initially told the clerk he was shopping for his wife.

"Shortly thereafter he pulled up his t-shirt and brandished a firearm to the clerk," Det. Rodriguez said. "Gave the sales clerk a white plastic bag and said, 'Fill it up with jewelry.'"

Herrera got away with about $30,000 in jewelry but no one was hurt.

He faces a charge for armed robbery.
