Report: Davie Woman Stabbed To Death; No Bond For Accused Murderer

DAVIE (CBSMiami) – CBS4 has uncovered disturbing new details in the murder investigation of a Davie woman who had ties to the billion dollar Halliburton oil empire on the same day the man accused of killing her was denied bond.

Dayont'e Omar Resiles and his lawyer, Brian Greenwald, appeared in front of Broward Judge John "Jay" Hurley.

"If not done so, I would like to invoke his right to remain silent," said Greenwald in court.

Some were too angry to comment after he was denided bond but one man said Resiles was no killer.

"I know he didn't do it," said the man who did not want to identify himself.

Resiles on Thursday was charged with murder in connection with the Sept. 8th death of Jill Halliburton Su.

According to the arrest affidavit, Jill Halliburton Su died of multiple stab wounds.

It was originally reported that her body was found by a relative in a bathtub; however, the affidavit states she was found in the master bathroom of the home where a rear window had been broken. She was near the bathtub in her underwear with her hands and feet bound. The report stated there was a knife found outside the front door.

It also states there was a green belt found inside the entrance to the home.

There were several drawers in the master bedroom and another bedroom that were tampered with.

Investigators were able to get DNA from the knife and the belt and the DNA led them straight to Resiles who was out on bond for two pending home burglaries.

Davie Police said Resiles was a burglar who somehow entered the upscale, gated community of WestRidge on Nob Hill Road south of I-595 and broke into Su's home.

It's still not known how he got into the community.

"There was no explanation how the defendant's DNA was in a home he does not live in and has no ties to and the position she was found," said Prosecutor Greg Rossman.

Police say Resiles had a history of burglarizing high-end homes. He was most recently arrested in Miramar and charged with burglary, grand theft and possession of burglary tools.

Resiles was also busted for burglary in January in Boca Raton, Police say when he was arrested; he had a laptop, camera, iPad and jewelry with him that had been stolen.

Halliburton Su was married to renowned University of Florida entomologist Nan-Yao Su, 63. They lived in the home with their son, Justin, 20. The couple also has a daughter, Amanda Su, 24.

Davie police said the investigation isn't over. They said criminals often work in pairs and they are looking "at everything." Anyone with new information is urged to call Davie Police or Broward Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS (8477).
