Louis Aguirre Debuts On The Insider
MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- South Florida TV personality Louis Aguirre has traveled to the West coast and is making his debut on The Insider Tuesday evening.
CBS4's Lisa Petrillo joined him during his preparations for his first day on the job.
"We like to welcome our new Insider to the program as my co- host" said Insider Host Thea Andrews.
"I'm so happy to be here. Let's do this," said Aguirre.
With those words, it's a new era in National Entertainment television as Aguirre officially became co- host of The Insider. An incredible day for him and even for Petrillo who goes way back with Aguirre, starting their careers together in Miami
"So Louis not many people know we started together in Miami 20 years ago, " said Petrillo "Yes," said Aguirre. "At Channel 10. I wanted to be you and look where I am now! Dreams come true."
Broadcasting to a much bigger audience, roughly a million and a half viewers nightly, doesn't intimidate him. It just motivates him.
" You' just have to live in the moment and do your best to communicate to your audience in the most real way," Aguirre said.
Covering the stars starts early in Los Angeles. Most arrive around 6:00 a.m. to stay on pace with east coast time which is three hours ahead. First, he visits the makeup chair. Then he's off to the early morning editorial meeting with producers and on air talent discussing the day's headlines.
Executive Producer Brad Bessey handpicked Aguirre for the job.
"We were looking for someone who was dynamic, had a great personality and knew entertainment with a leadership role, so we went to Miami and found Louis Aguirre," said Bessey.
Aguirre's new co-host Thea Andrews is thrilled about her new hunky Latin partner.
" If I could have ordered one up that looks like this, sounds like and smells this good, that's what I would do," said Andrews. "I've won the jackpot."
But Aguirre said the decision to leave South Florida was not an easy one.
"After I came back to Miami in 2000. I set up roots and I thought I was staying. Miami is such an incredible, diverse and exciting city. But this was too good to pass up," said Aguirre. "But, I'll be back to see you and all my friends and family. It's my home."
