Long: Dwyane Wade 'a Miami Heater for Life'
As Miami Heat fans continue to ponder the bizarre possibility of Dwyane Wade leaving South Florida this July, one Heat old-timer thinks Wade is a 'Miami Heater for life' regardless of what happens.
"I don't know what's going to happen with D-Wade," Grant Long said on the Marc Hochman Show with Zach Krantz. "We know that if you're a Miami Heat fan he's going to be a Miami Heater for life. But sometimes that strange thing of business sometimes gets in the way of keeping a player as long as you would like to have him. It looks like it may be what's happening with the Miami Heat. You still don't know what's going to happen, but if it does happen it's one of those things you have to charge it to my head and not to my heart."
Wade is expected to opt out of his $16.5 million contract for next season before the June 29 deadline. Teams are able to start negotiating with free agents beginning July 1.
