Locals Step In To Help Ecuador After Deadly Earthquake

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Locals are stepping in to help those affected by the deadly 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Ecuador.

On Tuesday, the Baptist Health Brickell Run club is collecting non-perishables, first aid supplies and medicines for the victims of the earthquake.

They will also be holding a moment of silence to remember the hundreds of lives lost in the earthquake.

The club will congregate starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Fortune International building located at 1300 Brickell Avenue.

Saturday's earthquake killed more than 400 people and injured thousands.  Areas affected by the earthquake include Muisne, Rosa Zarate, Propicia, Santo Domingo de los Colorados and Quito, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
