Man arrested after barricading himself in Lauderhill home with hostages

Two arrested after police standoff in Lauderhill

MIAMI - A man has been taken into custody Tuesday night after barricading himself for hours inside a Lauderhill home.

At around 6 p.m., multiple police agencies responded to a call regarding a barricaded subject with possible hostages.

Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Miranda Grossman said detectives were serving an arrest warrant in the 1400 block of Northwest 33rd Way when a man barricaded himself inside the home and refused to come out.

There were several people inside the home, including children.

Neighbors said they were worried about the people inside.

"A close friend of mine, her sister, and her kids are being held in a home by her boyfriend. I don't know the severity of the situation as far as what is going on inside, but I know the police department was called because they want to be let out of the home but are being held against their will," said one woman.

Broward Sheriff's Office SWAT team and BSO hostage negotiators responded to the scene and were eventually able to get the man to surrender.

According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, Roosevelt Permenter, 35, and Kaishonta Thomas, 35, were taken into custody. They face charges that include aggravated assault with a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, identity fraud, filing false documents for real/personal property, and grand theft.
