Lauderhill Man Shot, Killed Intruder Who Climbed Through Window Of Home

LAUDERHILL (CBSMiami) – A Lauderhill resident reportedly shot and killed an intruder late Sunday night.

According to police, a man and a woman were inside the home located in the 5900 block of NW 23rd Street when a man climbed in through a window.

Detectives say the intruder brandished a gun and shots were exchanged with the man. The intruder was killed. According to Lauderhill Police, the intruder was known to the man and woman inside the home.

"I'm worried, I've been crying all morning because I thought it was one of the kids because I speak to the kids," said a neighbor who did not want their identity revealed.

The neighbor said a woman and her children live in the home, and said she rarely has visitors.

"Maybe it's like a domestic dispute, probably because she's always outside on her phone," said the neighbor. "I've never seen a guy. I've never seen a guy; the woman and the kids," she added.

Lauderhill Police said someone from the home called 911 around 11 pm and hung up. When officers arrived at the home they found the intruder dead at the scene.

Police say the man and the woman who were in the residence at the time are cooperating with the investigation.
