Tropical Storm Karl Begins To Strengthen

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Tropical Storm Karl is beginning to strengthen.

At 11 p.m. the center of the system was about 760 miles east-northeast of the Leeward Islands.

Karl's maximum sustained winds were 45 mph as it moved to the west-northwest near 14 mph. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 115 miles to the north of the center.

A turn to the northwest is forecast to occur by late Wednesday.

Additional gradual strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours.

There are no watches or warnings in effect for this storm.
