Jury Selection & Trial Begins In Case Of Murdered UF Student

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Jury selection will begin Monday in the trial of Pedro Bravo, the man accused of killing a University of Florida freshman in 2012.

Pedro Bravo, 20, a former Sante Fe College student, will be on trial for the kidnapping and murder of 18-year-0ld Christian Aguilar.

Aguilar's family is from the Miami area and he was a Doral Academy graduate.

The trial will take place in Alachua County.

Bravo and Aguilar were last seen together walking into a Best Buy on Thursday, September 20th, 2012.

Aguilar disappeared that night.

The following Saturday, Bravo, 18 at the time, was named a person of interest in the case.

Police said he told them he beat up Christian and then left him in a parking lot.

On Friday, September 28, 2012 police charged Bravo with Aguilar's murder.

After a long search, Aguilar's remains were found about 20 miles outside Cedar Key in a heavily wooded area by two hunters in October 2012.

Bravo is accused of poisoning and killing Aguilar.  Prosecutors will not seek the death penalty in the case. Bravo could face life in prison.
