Tropical Storm Julia Milling Around Off SE United States Coast

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Tropical Storm Julia is milling around off the southeast coast of the United States.

At 11 p.m., the center of the system was about 190 miles east-southeast of Charleston, South Carolina.

Julia is crawling toward the east-southeast at 5 mph. A slow and erratic motion offshore of the coasts of South Carolina and North Carolina is anticipated during the next 2 days.

Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph with higher gusts. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 80 miles to the east of the center.

Little change in strength is forecast during the next 12 hours or so, but gradual weakening is anticipated thereafter.

There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect.

Meanwhile, Tropical Depression 12 is now Tropical Storm Karl.
