Jockeys, Horses Hurt In Collision During Race

HALLANDALE BEACH (CBSMiami) -- A collision while on the race track at Gulfstream Park ended with two jockeys injured and a horse losing his life.
Jockeys Joel Rosario and Rafael Hernandez will not be able to ride in the races for at least a month after Saturday's incident.
Rosario suffered a fractured wrist but his agent said it could have been worse.
"We're very lucky it's not worse. Joel's helmet split right in two, so that helmet did its job and probably saved his life," said his agent Ron Anderson.
Hernandez suffered a broken collarbone and several broken ribs.
Jockey Edgard Zayas was also unseated during the collision that involved three horses at the Melody of Color Stake Race.
One of the horses clipped the heels of another horse at some point during the race. A third horse fell over the fallen horse and later had to be euthanized. The other horses in the race were not injured.
