Jim Morris To Coach Through 2018 At Miami

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) — Jim Morris, who has led Miami to 21 straight trips to the NCAA tournament and guided the Hurricanes to the Atlantic Coast Conference regular-season title this year, has agreed to coach the Hurricanes through 2018.

Miami announced a three-year extension for Morris on Tuesday. After the 2018 season, longtime assistant Gino DiMare will succeed Morris as head coach.

Morris has taken Miami to the College World Series 11 times, and says "but there is more work to be done and more championships to be won." DiMare has been part of Miami baseball for two decades, first as a player and since as an assistant.

Miami athletic director Blake James says Morris' record at Miami is "unprecedented" and that the extension was well-earned.

The Hurricanes were 44-19 this season.
