Incumbents Headed For Reelection In Miami-Dade Schools Races

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Miami-Dade County school board incumbents Perla Taberes Hantman and Marta Pérez are headed for reelection.

With all 54 precincts reporting, Hantman has 81-percent of the votes.

With 74 of 76 precincts reporting, Pérez has 83-percent of the votes.

Both also garnered more than 80-percent of the absentee and early ballots cast.

School board members Raquel Regalado and Dorothy Bendross-Mindingal were automatically reelected because they were unopposed.

Taberes Hantman has been on the school board since 1996 and has served many years as the board chair. The district includes Hialeah and Miami Lakes.

Pérez was first elected in 1998. Her district is in southwest Dade, from beyond Krome Avenue to about 157th Avenue, and Flagler Street to Bird Road.
