Incognito Returns To Twitter With Apologies

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Former Miami Dolphins offensive guard Richie Incognito's self-imposed banishment from Twitter lasted only a few days before he started back on the social networking site with a vengeance Monday night.

"I apologize for acting like a big baby the last few days. This has all been so much on me and my family. I just want to play football," Incognito tweeted. "I want everyone to know I'm in good spirits and looking forward to playing again one day."

Incognito was at one time regarded as a solid guard in the NFL, but his stock collapsed last year between poor on the field play and the Jonathan Martin harassment scandal. Incognito was identified as the primary harasser of Martin in the Ted Wells report.

In the days before the release of the report and the first few hours after, Incognito lashed out at people including Martin saying that the report was going to "bury" his claims. It turned out the report found Martin was correct and Incognito was the one whose reputation was further tarnished.

Overnight, Incognito continued to try to repair the damage done to his career and his reputation with more apologies on Twitter.

"I would like to send Jonathan my apologies as well," Incognito tweeted. "Until someone tells me different you are still my brother. No hard feelings "

Incognito continued with a pair of statements, "There are no winners in the courts. Just families left to deal with their decisions and pick up the pieces. You can't free something." "We're all born free."

Finally, Incognito tweeted apologies to Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross and the NFL's investigator, Ted Wells.

"I would like to also apologize to Mr. Ross and Mr. Wells. *expletive* got cray cray #MYBAD," Incognito wrote on the social media website.

While Incognito appears at one level to be ready to move on from the ugly episode that damaged the Dolphins, himself, and the NFL, he still holds on to the idea that he may have been wronged in the entire situation.

Incognito retweeted a comment that read, "Keep your head up brother. There are always 3 sides of a story. His side. Your side and the truth. #wussificationofAmerica."

The former Dolphins career is now hanging in the balance, much like it did in 2010 when the Dolphins took a chance on him. At that time his career was nearly over for repeated bad decisions on and off the field. Now, his career hangs in the balance for his social failures.

Some team will take a chance on him with a one-year contract that will likely carry a one strike and you're out policy on any transgressions. Incognito has vowed in the past he has changed his ways, but if he wants to stay in the National Football League, this time he has to mean it.
