OXFORD (CBSMiami/AP) — The Miami Hurricanes basketball team is losing one of their young up-and-comers.

Mississippi's basketball team has added Miami transfer guard Deandre Burnett.

The school announced Burnett's signing on Monday. The 6-foot-2 guard must sit out next season because of NCAA transfer rules and will then have two years of eligibility remaining.

Burnett, a Miami native, averaged 7.0 points per game and hit 28 3-pointers last season as a redshirt freshman while averaging more than 17 minutes per game for the Hurricanes. He scored a career-high 21 points against Wisconsin-Green Bay and 19 points in a victory over Illinois.

Ole Miss coach Andy Kennedy said in a statement that Burnett is a "natural scorer who has always shown the ability to make plays."
