CORAL GABLES (CBSMiami) – University of Miami men's basketball coach Jim Larranaga has done a good job of bringing in top-level talent to the program.
On Wednesday the team received another big boost in the form of a five-star recruit.
Reading (PA) High School shooting guard Lonnie Walker committed to Miami, choosing the Hurricanes over Arizona, Kentucky and Villanova.
Walker is rated the No. 3 shooting guard and No. 21 overall recruit in the U.S. by 247Sports.
"I feel like it's the best for me, on and off the court and will make greater individual on the court," Walker said in a statement. "Thanks to all the schools that recruiting me but I'm official a Cane."
Miami now has four commitments in its 2017 recruiting class, with Walker joining four-star point guard Chris Lykes, four-star power forward Sam Waardenburg and four-star center Deng Gak.
The Hurricanes currently have the No. 17 recruiting class in the country, according to 247Sports, but Walker's commitment will bump them up to No. 9.
In 2016 Miami had the No. 15 recruiting class, bringing in Top 30 players Dewan Huell and Bruce Brown.
