POMPANO (CBSMiami) - Detectives at the Broward Sheriff's Office Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) are searching for 25-year-old Brandon Wilson after he allegedly stabbed his roommate in the neck Tuesday at their Pompano Beach home.
Officers went to the home Tuesday morning to check out a call concerning a man who had been attacked at 420 N.W. 10th Avenue. When they arrived, they found 57-year-old Mark Gougeon sitting in front of a neighbor's home, bleeding heavily from a stab wound to the neck.
Deputies say Wilson attacked Gougeon by first luring him into the bathroom, then used a knife to try to slash his throat. Wilson reportedly continued to stab Gougeon until he collapsed into the bathtub. Gougeon then played dead. The ploy was enough to stop the onslaught and Gougeon was able to escape the home after Wilson fled.
Pompano Beach Fire Rescue took Gougeon to Broward Health North where he was listed in stable condition.
VCU detectives are now looking for Wilson, who is facing an attempted murder charge.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS (8477) or contact them online. There's a $3,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.
