Man dies after physical fight with his wife at Homestead couples motel, police say
MIAMI — A death investigation is underway after a man was found unconscious at a Homestead couples motel parking before dying at the hospital late Wednesday night, police said.
Shortly before 11:16 p.m., Homestead Police officers were called out to the NEXX Motel, located at 841 N. Krome Ave., regarding reports of an altercation, Miami-Dade Police said in a Thursday press release. When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive man on the scene. He was airlifted to Jackson Memorial South Hospital, where despite lifesaving efforts, he died.
A preliminary investigation by Miami-Dade Police's Homicide Bureau revealed that the man and his wife were reportedly inside a vehicle at the motel, where they were involved in a verbal dispute that escalated into a physical fight.
At some point during the altercation, the man became unresponsive, police said. Emergency services were immediately called by the man's wife as well as motel security.
Miami-Dade Police said the Medical Examiner's Office will determine the exact cause and manner of death, and that the totality of the case is under review by the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office. Police did not share whether any arrests or charges have been made.
