KEY WEST (CBSMiami/FKNB) -- Scores of Ernest Hemingway look-alikes took to the streets in Key West Saturday for the "Running of the Bulls," a wacky (and much safer) take-off on the run held each year in Pamplona, Spain.

The event was a highlight of the Hemingway Days celebration, honoring the sporting lifestyle and literary legacy of the author who lived and wrote in Key West during the 1930s.

The bull run featured past winners and current competitors in the annual "Papa" Hemingway Look-Alike Contest, parading through Key West's historic downtown with life-size replica bulls on wheels.

The offbeat event was headquartered outside Sloppy Joe's Bar, frequented by Hemingway during his Key West years, with a route proceeding along part of the island's famed Duval Street.

Saturday night, finalists chosen from 140 entrants will vie for the title of "Papa" in the final round of the look-alike contest at Sloppy Joe's.

Other Hemingway Days events include literary readings and a marlin tournament saluting the author's love of deep-sea fishing. The festival concludes Sunday.
