Helin: Curry "Looked Every Bit The MVP" In Game 5
It's been a very up-and-down NBA Finals for Golden State Warriors' star Steph Curry, but his big night during Game 5 has an NBA Championship within his grasp. Kurt Helin of NBC Sports joined the Big O Show and thinks that while Curry is still the leader of his team, the Finals MVP race is wide open.
"[Curry] hadn't quite been himself. Now, if they win this in Game 6 and he has a big game, he is very possibly the series MVP. It could still go to LeBron. And I guess you could still make the case for Iguodala who's been absolutely fantastic as well. [Curry] looked every bit the MVP last night, and you knew it was coming at some point."
Helin also touched on LeBron James' postgame comments, when the superstar told the media that he is the best player in the world. Does that say more about James, or his teammates?
"When [LeBron] said that, my head just popped up ... He is not wrong. He knows it, and we all know it. And the fact that he's saying it show a sign of, 'Well, look it's not me.'"
