MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Heat have given homes to a couple of players that were overlooked by most of the league this season.
One of those players, forward Henry Walker, has been productive during his limited action in the Heat's past four games. Productive enough that Pat Riley wants to keep him around for at least another handful of games.
Several league sources said on Monday that the Heat has signed Walker to his second 10-day contract, which will begin on Tuesday March 3rd.
Miami will play six games in the next 10 days, starting Monday against the visiting Phoenix Suns.
Once the second 10-day contract expires, the Heat will have the option of signing Walker for the remainder of the season or cut him loose.
Walker, 27, is averaging 11.8 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 27.8 minutes per game while shooting 34.0 percent from the field and 31.4 percent from 3-point range.
