MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) – An investigation is underway after gunfire erupted at the posh Fontainebleau Miami Beach.

The shots were fired around 7:30 a.m. on the valet ramp of the resort's parking garage.

Miami Beach police said a grey Ford Mustang convertible drove past the valet ramp and fired multiple shots into a white Mercedes-Benz G Wagon which was associated with the rapper The Game, whose real name is Jayceon Terrell Taylor.

The Game was not saying anything at all.

"How are you doing? Want to say anything?" CBS4's Peter D'Oench asked him.

He and his group keep walking.

"Want to say anything at all?" D'Oench continued.

His crew members stopped D'Oench from getting close. The Game got on his tour bus without saying anything about the shooting.

Vian Gulsan was in the SUV when he saw the Mustang pull up, a window roll down and the shots were fired.

"I saw a grey mustang come through and he stopped on the corner and fired six or seven times," he said. "I was just sitting in the driver's seat next to two other cars that were empty. I thought I was going to die."

A couple from Arkansas, guests at the resort, said they woke to the sound of the gunfire but didn't realize what it was at first.

"There were three raps on our door, I got up and look out and there wasn't anyone there. I went down for breakfast and saw the police tape is when it dawned on me that it was gunshots we heard." said Mike Gies. "This is an upscale hotel. You don't think of this sort of thing happening."

A hotel spokeswoman said the hotel would have no comment about the incident, adding that police were handling the investigation.

Miami Beach Police tweeted a photo of the vehicles damaged by flying bullets.

The celeb news website TMZ spoke to Taylor's manager who said that the vehicle that actually belongs to their crew was the black Chevy SUV next to the G Wagon.

Taylor's manager also told TMC that the rapper had a white Range Rover parked about 15 feet away from the other vehicles. While police have confirmed the Range Rover was involved, Sheila Gies said she saw a bullet hole in it.

"I was scared after I saw the bullet hole," she said. "We saw one bullet hole in the door of the white Range Rover.

One theory being investigated by police is that Taylor and his crew were targeted.

On Thursday night Taylor hosted and performed at the STORY nightclub. During the show, he took some shots at fellow rapper Meek Mill, calling him a snitch. Mill responded with a not so nice post on Instagram.

At this time it remains unclear if the shooting was related in way to the spat. The police say they will know more as the investigation proceeds.

"Blogs, rumors and those things are entertaining for morning news and throughout the day," said Miami Beach police spokesman Ernesto Rodriguez. "But we have to go on factual information and that will be determined once we interview all the parties involved and come up with a conclusion."

It's not known if any surveillance cameras captured the gunman.

If you can help police find the shooter, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
