MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- A group who is pushing for a high speed rail in Miami-Dade is holding its first public forum on the matter on Monday.
The High Speed Rail America Club is hosting the forum, open to the community, which started at noon in Florida International University's (FIU) Business Complex.
The group wanted to inform the public and possibly get feedback on their idea to connect FIU, Dolphin Mall, Miami International Airport, Marlins Park, Downtown, Port Miami and Miami Beach using one magnetic monorail system.
They're also set to discuss things like partnering, costs, timelines, and stations.
The group said they also invited All Aboard Florida to speak about the impact their trains will have on the community.
Also invited was the company who would build the monorail named the "Miami Maglev."
Various students, FIU faculty and community leaders were expected to attend. The forum is scheduled to end at 2 p.m.
