DORAL (CBSMiami) -- The world's leading supplier of airplane parts, KLX Aerospace Solutions, is expanding and creating more opportunities for Miami-Dade County residents.
The 30-acre, 500,000 square foot distribution hub sits in western Hialeah and offers services for commercial, business jet, and military markets.
"The core and values of the company start with the people in this room today," said KLX CFO Mike Senft. "Our employees and our focus in accessing a productive workforce is the very bedrock of the way we've tried to build aerospace and then what has become the stand-alone business called KLX."
KLX Aerospace Solutions has 2,100 employees globally -- 600 at the Miami campus -- offering services in 65 facilities around the world. They ship 7,500 orders per day.
With expansion, the company is adding another 100 jobs in Miami-Dade County.
"Think about that - that's one hundred more people who can get to live the dream of this country," said Florida Gov. Rick Scott. "The dream of this country starts with a job."
Gov. Scott gave KLX leaders the Governor's Business Ambassador Award, saying it's because of companies like KLX that the state has been able to add 1,220,500 jobs in the past five years.
"The way out of poverty is good paying jobs," said Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez. "Give our kids and grandchildren an opportunity to work and play right here and the best way to do that is diversify our economy. So this is a good day for Miami-Dade."
