Hurricane Gonzalo Continues Moving Away From Newfoundland

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Hurricane Gonzalo is continuing to move over the cold waters of the North Atlantic Ocean, quickly moving away from Newfoundland.
As of the 11 a.m. advisory, the National Hurricane Center said Gonzalo is about 265 miles east-northeast of St. Johns Newfoundland with maximum sustained winds at 85 mph.
The storm is moving speedily at 52 mph.
The Canadian Hurricane Centre has discontinued the Tropical Storm Watch for the Avalon Peninsula in southeastern Newfoundland.
Weakening of Gonzalo will continue as the storm is expected to become extratropical sometime on Sunday.
Hurricane force winds extend outward up to 115 miles from the center of the storm and tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 310 miles.
Gonzalo is expected to turn toward the east-northeast on Sunday night. This motion is forecast to continue through Monday night.
