Golden on Brad Kaaya: 'He's a Comprehensive Commitment to Excellence'

There are some big expectations for Miami quarterback Brad Kaaya as he gets ready for his sophomore season at the U.

"So he's a comprehensive commitment to excellence," Al Golden said to Joe Zagacki. "So nutritionally, sacrifice, just the work ethic. I love the fact that you just said -- 'cause we've been saying that, his core strength, the way his feet are firing, he's so much leaner."

Golden says Kaaya lost roughly 20 pounds in 12 weeks but is stronger despite getting leaner.

As for the secondary, he credits the consistency of Tracy Howard and Dallas Crawford but also the defensive line.

"It's the most experienced group we've had but they should be even better than that because of the number of pass rushers we have," Golden said. "We have more pass rushers right now than we had since OV and those guys left. This is the most without question with Quan and Tyrique and D. Jackson, Darien Owens, and all those guys. So it's a good group and collectively they're the reason we're getting more hands on balls right now."
