Gambling Deal Coming? Florida Legislators Trade Offers

TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami/AP) — State legislators are moving closer to a gambling deal which could result in a new casino in South Florida and give the Seminole Tribe the right to offer craps and roulette at their casinos.
House and Senate negotiators met Wednesday in a last-ditch effort to pass a comprehensive gambling bill this session. The session ends on May 5.
The House proposed allowing one new casino in Miami-Dade and granting the Seminoles additional games at their seven existing casinos. This includes two major casinos in Tampa and in Hollywood. The House proposal could also lead to dog tracks ending live dog races.
Rep. Jose Feliz Diaz, a Miami Republican leading negotiations for the House, called it a substantial offer since the House initially proposed a "freeze" on all gambling.
